Best beaches in Barcelona
Here is a list of the best beaches in Barcelona and its region. All these beaches are perfectly accessible by public transport, and you only have to walk a few minutes from the station to reach the seashore.
Barceloneta Beach
The most famous of Barcelona's beaches, this is a popular gathering point for locals and tourists who want to enjoy the sea just a few minutes from the city centre. On this urban beach you'll find all kinds of services and a fun atmosphere for spending the day on the sand, playing sports or taking a dip in the Mediterranean.
Montgat Beach
When the beaches of Barcelona city seem too crowded, Montgat beach offers an escape from the hustle and bustle for a quiet day at the sea.
Located just 20 minutes by train from Plaza Catalunya, this beach is not only accessible but also packed with bars and sports facilities. All this, with extra peace and quiet for those who just want to enjoy the sea.
Ocata Beach
Just after Montgat Nord and the Port Masnou marina, you'll find Ocata. This beach is very similar to Mongat, very very long so you'll never find it crowded. It's very wide so you'll always find a spot to rest and sunbathe.
There are a lot of beach bars along the beach so it's easy to find a good place to eat and have some nice cold drinks. From Barcelona you will take around 35 minutes by train.
El Garraf Beach
Just half an hour by train from Barcelona and a little closer than Sitges, you'll find this beautiful bay. This is a small beach but still very beautiful, not crowded at all and you can enjoy a bar.
This place is ideal for swimming, with his gorgeous blue water and it doesn't have strong currents.
Bogatell Beach
This Barcelona beach is a little further away from the city center and it's getting popular with the days. Bogatell is cleaner and a lot less crowded than Barceloneta. It has several beach bars and even beach volley nets set up, anyone can use them, just don't forget to bring your ball!
Castelldefels Beach
One of the most popular beaches near the south part of Barcelona is in Castelldefels, a lovely resort town with plenty of facilities. Bypass the Castelldefels town station and get out at Castelldefels-Platja and you’ll find almost five kilometres of sandy playgrounds. The beach itself has many facilities too. Many water sports are organised in the zone.
Mar Bella Beach
Another of Barcelona's best urban beaches, Mar Bella includes a skate park, basketball and volleyball courts and a children's play area. Despite being among the city's beaches, it's also one of the quietest so it's ideal for hanging out and sunbathing.
This is also one of Barcelona's nudist beaches, with a small naturist area.
